Wolves have made their first summer signing with the capture of Belgium full-back Jelle van Damme from Anderlecht.[LNB] Van Damme moves to Molineux on a three-year deal with an option for a further 12 months after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee for the 26-year-old.[LNB]Wolves boss Mick McCarthy was pleased to have snared van Damme, who has experience of life in England having played for Southampton in the 2004/05 campaign.[LNB]"Jelle is a player we've been watching for a long time and I'm[LNB]delighted we've managed to sign him," said McCarthy.[LNB]"He is a versatile defender who can play in several different positions and also boasts Champions League experience with Anderlecht and 22 international caps with Belgium.[LNB]"Playing in the Premier League is going to be a new challenge but from talking to him it's one he is clearly looking forward to and relishing.[LNB]"There were other clubs who were keen to sign him but we were able to get in early and register our interest and get the deal done.[LNB]"It's also a big advantage that he will be able to come in and spend all pre-season training with the squad and hopefully that will give him plenty of time to get settled in.[LNB]"He's older and more experienced than the last time he played in the Premier League and I'm looking forward to working with him."[LNB]Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey believes the player's commitment to moving to Molineux was key in clinching the deal.[LNB]"He arrives with international and Champions League experience and is a player Mick has been tracking for some time," he said.[LNB]"The other important aspect is that Jelle is a winner having won two league titles and the cup in four years with Anderlecht.[LNB]"The most pleasing thing about this deal is that from the first time we spoke to the player he really wanted to come.[LNB]"From that moment he never wavered, even with lots of interest from other clubs, and that showed us his commitment to wanting to join Wolves.[LNB]"We're delighted to have him here and are sure he will prove an excellent addition to the squad."
