Wolves eager to keep Craddock

Club captain Craddock, 33, has vital Premier League experience having been a mainstay in Wolves' defence the last time they were in the top flight in 2003/04. Manager Mick McCarthy took up the option of a one-year extension on the centre-back's contract last summer, only for Craddock to suffer a broken metatarsal in the second game of this season. He returned from injury towards the end of January before going on to play a crucial part in the club's promotion winning run-in, regaining the captaincy from Karl Henry in the process. McCarthy has stressed his desire for Craddock to remain in the Black Country to provide much-needed experience as the club look to survive in the Premier League, and it is hoped a deal will be thrashed out in the near future. However, winger Gobern, who made 12 appearances during the early stages of the 2006/07 campaign before a succession of injury problems, and utility players Melbourne, 19, and Bailey, 20, will both leave the club this summer.
