Match Preview

Two of the three sides promoted from the Championship last season meet at Molineux this weekend. Wolves have won two of their last three Premier League matches, but manager Mick McCarthy was heavily criticised on Wednesday night after making 10 changes to his starting line-up for their trip to Manchester United.

The Molineux boss decided to rest all of the team that shocked Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane last Saturday - bar Marcus Hahnemann in goal - and the decision didn't pay off as they suffered a 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford. Despite the criticism, McCarthy defended his team selection after the match, saying: "We could have got beaten whatever team I put out and I might have lost somebody with a hamstring or calf strain because they were all struggling after beating Spurs. "I need to protect them. If you have another match of that magnitude, you can't cope.

We have big games coming." With their key players being rested in their midweek defeat, Wolves have no fresh injury concerns but will still be missing their skilful winger Michael Kightly with an ankle injury that will keep him out of action until the new year. Burnley also expect to have no new injury concerns coming in to the game and should be full of confidence following a great 1-1 home draw with Arsenal on Wednesday night.

The Clarets will be hoping to end a six-match run without a win in the top-flight, but will take encouragement from that fact that they have only suffered two defeats in seven Premier League games. Owen Coyle will be wary that his side have the worst away record in the Premier League this season after collecting only one point on their travels. But the Scottish tactician will by buoyed by a 1-0 victory in their last meeting with Wolves last season in the Championship.
