Wolves sweat on Sigurdarson injury

Wolves will assess Bjorn Sigurdarson ahead of their home clash against bottom club Peterborough on Boxing Day.

The Icelandic wide man missed Friday night's 2-1 win at Blackpool as a precaution having felt tightness in his thigh, and Wolves' medical staff must now decide whether to risk him against Posh or give him an extra couple of days to recover.

However, manager Stale Solbakken is likely to resist the temptation to bring back Sigurdarson just yet after replacement Jermaine Pennant suitably impressed at Bloomfield Road.

Defender Georg Margreitter was set to make his long-awaited return to Wolves' matchday squad against the Seasiders but suffered another setback in training ahead of the match, with a hamstring complaint now keeping him out of action.

Midfielders Jamie O'Hara and Slawomir Peszko are not quite ready to return, while Razak Boukari, Dave Edwards, Steven Mouyokolo, Wayne Hennessey, Stephen Hunt and George Elokobi remain sidelined.

Peterborough have no new injury concerns as they aim to record a third successive npower Championship victory.

Darren Ferguson's side made it back-to-back wins with a 5-4 home success against Bolton on Saturday and go into the Boxing Day fixture at Molineux in good spirits.

Ferguson, unsurprisingly, named the same side that won 2-1 a week earlier at Cardiff and his loyalty paid dividends as his charges secured all three points against the Trotters.

Nathaniel Knight-Percival shrugged off an ankle injury to keep his place in the heart of defence.

Kgosi Ntlhe, Peter Grant and Tyrone Barnett remain long-term absentees.

Kane Ferdinand and Craig Alcock came off the bench to feature on Saturday but will again be made to settle for places among the substitutes.
