Ward out for Wolves

Stephen Ward will miss Wolves' crunch relegation clash with Bristol City through suspension.

The left-back saw red in the latter stages of Wanderers' 3-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest last weekend and now serves a one-match ban at Molineux.

Manager Dean Saunders made one change at the City Ground from the XI who finally secured his long-awaited first win in charge at Millwall, forward Bjorn Sigurdarson coming in for Jake Cassidy.

It remains to be seen how the Welshman will line-up for such an important fixture against the Robins, with just a slender goal difference separating the Championship's two bottom sides, although the likes of Jack Robinson, Kevin Doyle and Tongo Doumbia will all be pushing for recalls.

Winger Razak Boukari could make his return to action next month following a troublesome calf injury while George Elokobi (broken and dislocated ankle) could also play some part before the end of the season.

Bristol City striker Jon Stead is extremely doubtful to make the basement battle.

The in-form forward suffered a groin injury when challenging former team-mate Stephen McManus last weekend and he is highly unlikely to return to action against Dean Saunders' men.

But with the exception of the former Blackburn striker, head coach Sean O'Driscoll has a lot more options for the trip as Louis Carey is back in full training and Paul Anderson has recovered from the bug that kept him out of the win over Middlesbrough.

And with striker Sam Baldock having recovered from a calf strain and Albert Adomah impressing as a replacement for Stead last weekend, O'Driscoll has plenty to ponder ahead of kick-off.

"I have more options now and you need that," he told Press Association Sport. "Every team is going into the last eight or nine games of the season with injury as the big worry, and keeping people fit. You are not going to change your squad that much.

"We lost three players on Saturday morning and the more players you have to select from to help with those problems the better."

City and Wolves, 24th and 23rd in the npower Championship, are just separated by goal difference.
