Doumbia out of Saunders bow

Tongo Doumbia will be unavailable for Wolves' televised clash against Blackburn as new boss Dean Saunders takes charge of his first game at the helm.

The midfielder returned to Compton on Thursday after failing to make Mali's squad for the African Nations Cup due to a hamstring injury which has ruled him out of Wolves' last three matches.

Saunders is not expected to have any new injury or suspension concerns following the club's shock 1-0 FA Cup defeat at the hands of Luton last weekend, although it remains to be seen how he will line-up with each player at Molineux given a clean slate.

Bjorn Sigurdarson is likely to have recovered from his thigh complaint while winger Slawomir Peszko was a second-half substitute against the Hatters following three months out with a knee injury.

Razak Boukari, Dave Edwards, Steven Mouyokolo, Wayne Hennessey, Stephen Hunt and George Elokobi remain sidelined.

Todd Kane is poised to make his Blackburn debut as speculation continues to mount surrounding the vacant managerial position at Ewood Park.

First-choice right-back Adam Henley sustained a hamstring injury during last weekend's 2-0 FA Cup victory over Bristol City - Gary Bowyer's third consecutive victory since taking caretaker charge of Rovers - and Kane is set to deputise.

Bowyer brought the England Under-19 defender in from Chelsea this week following his recent stint in npower League One with Preston, although Blackburn's reserve boss is expected to oversee first-team affairs for a final time after the club confirmed an official approach for Blackpool manager Michael Appleton.

Fellow full-back Martin Olsson is set to continue on the left-hand side of defence despite transfer interest from West Ham.

Unsettled defender Gael Givet has returned to fitness, but goalkeeper Paul Robinson (back) and midfielder Dixon Etuhu (knee) remain on the sidelines.
