Warnock: I gave ref wake-up call

The Eagles boss was highly critical of the Premier League official in the first half, voicing his displeasure on more than one occasion from the touchline.[LNB]But he felt Foy more than made up for it with an assured display after the interval in a scrappy but entertaining encounter that ended 2-2.[LNB]"I thought the ref had a poor first half, but as poor as he was in the first half he was as good in the second," said Warnock.[LNB]"But I think my half-time team-talk did the trick really - I asked him if he wanted some smelling salts.[LNB]"I didn't think the concentration level was good enough from him in the first half.[LNB]"We were punished with the first goal."[LNB]The spirited Championship outfit could count themselves unlucky not to have won the tie outright against a below-par Wolves side.[LNB]Alan Lee silenced the 14,449 inside Molineux when he headed Palace into the lead as early as the second minute, although David Jones' strike levelled matters before the interval.[LNB]Darren Ambrose registered his 14th goal of the season in the 49th minute courtesy of a well-taken free-kick.[LNB]And that looked to be enough to secure Palace's place in the fifth round for the first time in seven seasons.[LNB]That was until Ronald Zubar salvaged a draw late on with a sublime turn and volley that was fit to win any encounter.[LNB]Warnock added: "I can't say enough good things about my side - an absolutely incredible little bunch.[LNB]"We deserve to be in the hat and it will not be an easy game for them down at Selhurst Park."[LNB]Claude Davis was stretchered off midway through the first half after an innocuous aerial challenge with Sam Vokes.[LNB]He received around five minutes of attention from as many as 10 medical staff before heading to hospital.[LNB]But Warnock played down any concerns over a serious injury.[LNB]"We should know later today, he's had a scan locally and they couldn't see anything wrong with his neck," he said.[LNB]"But the consultant wants to look at him first before they let him out.[LNB]"We're hoping he'll be all right."[LNB]Wanderers, four-time winners of the competition and 11 places above Palace in the football ladder, were edgy throughout and rarely posed the kind of threat associated with a top-flight outfit.[LNB]Mick McCarthy's seven changes from the side that lost 2-0 to Wigan last weekend may have had something to do with it but he still sent out an XI more than capable of seeing off their Championship opponents.[LNB]The two sides will go again on Tuesday February 2, and McCarthy said: "It's better than being out of the competition.[LNB]"I thought we had some chances to win it in the second half and Crystal Palace played well.[LNB]"We didn't get anything other than what I expected from them.[LNB]"What I got from us, though, at the start of the first and second half is not what I expect.[LNB]"We've had to have a scrap, it was a cup tie.[LNB]"We've had to work harder than necessary just to get a draw."[LNB]He added: "Of course our best chance has gone but we drew away at Everton, we beat Spurs away and we drew at Stoke.[LNB]"We want to be in the FA Cup, and we are."[LNB][LNB][LNB]
