Tigers snub Wolves' £5m Hunt bid

The Tigers have now turned down four bids from Wolves for the services of the Republic of Ireland international, who is seen as a pivotal figure in the club's battle to remain in the top flight.[LNB]"In response to further released speculation, the club have received a verbal offer of £5million for Stephen Hunt," read a Hull City statement.[LNB]"This has been completely rejected and we are not expecting any further bids."[LNB]Reports have suggested the cash-strapped Tigers would have to transfer-list their entire squad in the hope of clearing debts of £9million.[LNB]Yet while chairman Adam Pearson has spoken of the need to move out fringe players and slash the wage bill by £6million, there is a reluctance to part with the club's star names.[LNB]Manager Phil Brown had conceded previously, however, the club would have to listen to offers for all players given their financial state.[LNB]Hull assistant manager Brian Horton said: "That's the end of it I suppose, unless they come in with something very quickly. That's how it stands.[LNB]"Unless it's an offer you feel is one you completely have to take, no manager wants to sell his best players so that is the end of the story with Stephen Hunt.[LNB]"You heard the press he got from one of his former team-mates, the goalkeeper (Marcus) Hahnemann at the weekend about what a good player he was and if they got him they would stay up and if we kept him we would stay up. Let's hope that's the case."[LNB]Hunt, meanwhile, who has now been the subject of four offers from Wolves, has refused to consider any transfer talk.[LNB]"I gather the clubs have been talking a bit but for what I know, I'm staying," said the Republic of Ireland international.[LNB]"In the past I've got involved in transfers and mucked my head up but I've pretty much said nothing this time, got my head down and let my football do the talking.[LNB]"I'm happy at Hull City. When 5pm comes this evening it will probably be a bit of a relief."[LNB]Horton also confirmed that midfielder Peter Halmosi has returned to former club Szombathelyi Halafas on loan until the end of the season and that striker Daniel Cousin was in talks with an unnamed club.[LNB][LNB] Man. City 4/6, Draw 5/2, Hull 5/1
