Mick satisfied with Wolves start

The Black Country outfit returned to the Premier League after a six-year absence this summer, determined to cling onto their hard-earned status longer than the 12 months they managed last time. While McCarthy saw his side lose for the second time this season as they went down 1-0 to Manchester City at Eastlands on Saturday, he was pleased with their battling performance. And, having collected a win from their trip to Wigan on Tuesday, the former Republic of Ireland chief feels his team are not far away from his most optimistic forecast. "If we had got four points, I would have been dancing with my drawers in the air," he smiled. "We are one short of what would be an unbelievably good total so I am pleased." McCarthy feels his side need to become more clinical in front of goal if they are to make the most of their abilities. Andy Keogh scored a superb goal at Wigan and rattled the crossbar with a thunderous strike that could easily have brought Wolves a point. But largely it has been a case of missed opportunities for McCarthy's men. "We were a little bit wasteful in front of goal against City, as we were against West Ham last week," he said. "I didn't think that would be an easy game but I thought we would get something out of it. "But I am pleased enough. If you end up taking a point a game all season it is a good start, even though I know you need a few more."
