McCarthy stresses importance of Hammers game

Mick McCarthy is braced for a backlash from the Wolves fans if his side fail to beat West Ham in Saturday's relegation clash at Molineux. Wolves have slipped into the bottom three of the Barclays Premier League after suffering four successive defeats - their worst results sequence for six years. After facing the Hammers, they then have to play the current top four in Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal in successive games. McCarthy said: "West Ham at home is a huge game and the pressure will be on. I'm not going to appease people with words. That's just the way it is. "If we don't win, the frustrations will be all the worse and fans will be coming up with whatever anagram they can for `super Mick' - `big-nosed whatever' - because I've seen it before. "But you won't find a more pragmatic bloke than me. Results have been poor. But we're doing everything we can here to get results."
