McCarthy: Milijas will come good

While Milijas looked impressive in pre-season, he has found life difficult in the Premier League so far. The £2.6million summer signing was hauled off against Blackburn after half-time following a below-par opening 45 minutes. McCarthy admits he did contemplate resting the 26-year-old after he played for his country ahead of their trip to Rovers against France, but thought better of it. The Wolves tactician knows he has a good player on his hands and is just hoping Milijas can get to grips with the Premier League sooner rather than later. "Nenad has just got to work through it. He's a good player. It was hard for him," McCarthy told the Express and Star. "He'd been away and played in a big game for his country against France. They look like qualifying for the World Cup, so I considered whether I should play him after he'd played and travelled. "Then I thought - 'No, it's quite the opposite'. I look at it that if that was me coming back from an Ireland game, I would want to be playing for my club. So that was my decision. "It just wasn't happening for him in the first half, but he can still play. He's still coming to terms with it."
