McCarthy happy with Wolves effort

Mick McCarthy is sure Wolves will emerge from their mini-slump if they maintain the standard of performance seen in their last three games.[LNB] Wolves have slipped into the bottom six of the Barclays Premier League after losing away to Fulham and Tottenham and at home to Aston Villa.[LNB]They led at Craven Cottage and White Hart Lane and were undone by a last gasp goal from revitalised Villa striker Emile Heskey.[LNB]McCarthy knows there is no room in football for hard luck stories but is optimistic results will improve ahead of the weekend clash at Wigan.[LNB]He said: "Of course, it's a concern to lose games late and losing any game is a concern. It's really disappointing.[LNB]"There's no point keeping talking about playing well and then losing games.[LNB]"It's no good saying that when we don't get any points out of the games.[LNB]"We have played better than three defeats but that's the stat that matters.[LNB]"But we just need to keep performances like that to turn it around."[LNB]McCarthy believes his players have the right sort of character to put their recent poor run behind them.[LNB]He said: "When you've been beaten three times on the bounce, it becomes increasingly hard to keep getting the performances.[LNB]"But they are a great set of lads and I've no doubt the performances will be there."
