McCarthy happy with Wolves effort

Mick McCarthy is convinced Wolves will emerge from their mini slump if they maintain the standard of performance seen in their last three games. Wolves have slipped into the bottom six of the Barclays Premier League after losing away to Fulham and Tottenham and at home to Aston Villa. They led at Craven Cottage and White Hart Lane and were undone by a last gasp goal from revitalised Villa striker Emile Heskey. McCarthy knows there is no room in football for hard luck stories but is optimistic results will improve ahead of the weekend clash at Wigan. He said: "Of course, it's a concern to lose games late and losing any game is a concern. It's really disappointing. "There's no point keeping talking about playing well and then losing games. It's no good saying that when we don't get any points out of the games. We have played better than three defeats but that's the stat that matters."
