Kightly staying positive

Wolves winger Michael Kightly hopes an end to his long-term injury problems is finally in sight. Kightly has been sidelined for 13 months after undergoing ankle surgery and then having operations on both knees, but believes he could be running again in around four weeks.

Kightly had an operation on his right knee in October and Wolves announced on Tuesday that he underwent the same procedure on his left knee in Sweden last week. Now Kightly has set his sights on stepping up his rehabilitation work before eventually targeting a return to action.

Kightly said: "I do feel really positive at the moment. There have been times when I've felt really down with how things were going. Now I'm feeling really good and looking forward to getting back out there again.

"As long as I don't rush my rehab, which clearly I'm not going to do, then I'll be fine.

"I've got to carry on having treatment and doing strengthening work and hopefully I'll be running again maybe four weeks from now. From there it will be a case of progressively building things up."
