Irish pair can shine on - McCarthy

The duo have sparkled since McCarthy put them together and it means that Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, the Golden Boot winner in the Championship for the last two seasons, will start on the bench in Sunday's clash at the Stadium of Light.[LNB]Ebanks-Blake is fully fit after the hamstring problems he suffered in the first game of the season against West Ham.[LNB]But McCarthy is sticking with the Irish duo for the return to his former club and told them to keep performing as they have been if want to keep their shirts.[LNB]McCarthy, who broke the transfer record at Molineux to sign Doyle from Reading in a £6.5million deal in July, said: "I think that Kevin and Andy have been excellent, really good.[LNB]"Andy has been terrific right from the start and Kevin is just getting there from having a stop-start beginning due to his injury problems.[LNB]"But I have seen enough of Kevin to know that he really is very good.[LNB]"He had already shown that he could score goals in the Premier League during his time at Reading and I was delighted we were able to sign him.[LNB]"Partnerships develop over time and those two have got the shirts at the moment.[LNB]"That is nine tenths of the law as far as I am concerned and so it is up to them to keep possession of the shirts.[LNB]"If they play the way that they are then they can develop into a really good partnership. But scoring goals will be the real test of it."[LNB]Doyle, who was hampered at the start of the season following hernia surgery and a groin problem, will head into the game at Sunderland on a high as his goal in last Sunday's 2-1 win against Fulham was his first for Wolves.[LNB]Doyle admits that it has been a frustrating time for him but he can now finally see some light at the end of the tunnel after being troubled by injury since March.[LNB]He said: "As well as being my first goal for Wolves it was also my first since March in club football so it is nice to be on the goal sheet again.[LNB]"It has been very frustrating for me over the last few months with the injury problems I have had.[LNB]"But to get my first Wolves goal after scoring for Ireland against Cyprus recently has made me feel a lot better.[LNB]"I hope there is more to come from me. But it is just great to be fit and fresh again."[LNB][LNB]
