Guedioura ready for England battle

Adlene Guedioura has promised Algeria will show more fight when they come up against England in their second match in Cape Town on Friday.[LNB] The Wolves midfielder was a late substitute in the 1-0 defeat in their Group C opener against Slovenia on Sunday which left the north African nation with a mountain to climb to qualify for the knockout stages.[LNB]Algeria, making their first World Cup appearance for 24 years, are likely to have to beat England and the United States in back-to-back games to progress.[LNB]Against Slovenia they held the initiative in the early stages but faded in the second half and their hopes of victory disappeared after the sending-off of substitute Abdelkader Ghezzal.[LNB]But Guedioura, who signed a three-year contract at Molineux at the end of the season having initially joined on loan from Belgian side Charleroi, insists they can put the disappointment of that defeat behind them.[LNB]"It was a disappointing performance because we didn't deserve to lose," he said.[LNB]"The team showed they could win the match and the draw would have been more fair and what we deserved.[LNB]"What we have to do is say it is finished now and look forward. Now we have two big matches and we have to be focused for England.[LNB]"We showed against Slovenia that we can do something. We will see against England. We need to be focused and we need to be confident.[LNB]"Every game now is a fight and we need points against England so that we can get points in this group."[LNB]Both teams have seen their goalkeepers come in for criticism for horrendous blunders which have proved expensive.[LNB]Robert Green's failure to hold on to Clint Dempsey's long-range shot ensured the United States escaped with a 1-1 draw from the opening Group C encounter while Faouzi Chaouchi's inability to deal with Robert Koren's tame strike led to the defeat against Slovenia.[LNB]Algeria coach Rabah Saadane has given his goalkeeper his full backing but England counterpart Fabio Capello has been less forthcoming on Green's position.[LNB]It has led to much conjecture about who will line-up in goal at the Green Point Stadium in three days' time but Guedioura would not be drawn into the debate.[LNB]When asked whether he thought both teams would change their keepers he said: "I don't know, I'm not the coach.[LNB]"We saw the England goalkeeper making a mistake so it is not his (Chaouchi's) fault. I am disappointed for him.[LNB]"Everyone makes a mistake in football: sometimes it's the goalkeeper, sometimes it's me, sometimes another player."
