Terry Connor has challenged Wolves striker Steven Fletcher to repeat the late goal spree that guaranteed Barclays Premier League survival last season.
Fletcher was on target six times in the final nine games as Wolves climbed out of the bottom three on the last day of the campaign and Connor knows Wolves need the 25-year-old to have a similar run if they are to have any chance of staying up in 2011-2012 ahead of Saturday evening's Staffordshire derby at Stoke.
Fletcher has netted 10 times this season but only once in the last 10 matches, and Connor said: "He'll get his goals soon - and we'll get full reward for his efforts. He would probably forsake a couple that went in earlier in the season for a couple to go in at Stoke."
He added: "We're all human, he'll score some and he'll miss some. That's what strikers do.
"But he's in the right positions, and we're delivering balls into the right areas, we're performing well and that gives me confidence."
Connor admits his spell as interim boss has given him the appetite for a longer crack at management whether it is at Wolves or elsewhere.
He said: "I was told to look after things until May 13. What happens after that is for the club to decide.
"It's not hard for me to focus as that is my brief. I will make sure I give my all until then.
"After that it's for everyone to sit down, see where we are and take stock. Steve Morgan is the chairman so he'll have a big say in the future of where we go from there.
"I'd like to be in the Premier League at Wolves. If I'm not here, I'd like to work at another club with another set of players, get them in the Premier League and work in the Premier League."
