Christophe Berra believes Wolves team-mate Steven Fletcher "deserves to play in the Premier League."

Fletcher, 25, handed in a transfer request last week after the npower Championship side reportedly rejected a £12million offer from Sunderland.

And when asked if he expected Fletcher to be in a Wolves shirt for the league opener away to Leeds United at the weekend, Berra said: "I don't know, I haven't been there for a week but as has been reported, there have been a lot of bids for him. He's a top player and I am sure he will go on to big things."

He went on: "Every team want to keep their best players but if people put the right money down you can't say no and I think the boy deserves to play in the Premier League."
