Wolves deny Friedrich approach

Wolfsburg have denied making an approach for Hertha Berlin defender Arne Friedrich.

New managing director Dieter Hoeness was reported to have contacted his former club to enquire about the availability of the Germany international.

However, Hoeness claims he has not made an enquiry for the versatile defender.

"We have not made Hertha an offer for Arne Friedrich and we have not even decided yet whether we sign anybody at all in the winter break," he said.

Friedrich recently pledged his future to struggling Hertha until summer 2012.
