Wolfsburg have continued their major summer spending spree by completing the signing of Italy international defender Andrea Barzagli.
Twenty-seven-year-old Barzagli joins Azzurri and Palermo team-mate Cristian Zaccardo in making the move to Germany, having agreed a three-year contract with the Bundesliga club.
Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath told Kicker: "We are glad that the talks with Palermo have been completed successfully.
"It says a lot for our work that a player of this stature is willingly to join VfL Wolfsburg. He brings the quality that we need, especially when you consider we are playing in the UEFA Cup."
As well as snapping up Barzagli and Zaccardo, Wolfsburg have also recently tied up the signings of three further new recruits.
Midfielder Zvjezdan Misimovic has joined from Nurnberg, while Daniel Adlung moves to Wolfsburg from Greuther Furth and Brazilian defender Rodrigo Alvim has signed from Portuguese club Belenenses.
