Wolfsburg complete Gustavo signing

Wolfsburg have completed the signing of Brazil international Luiz Gustavo from Bayern Munich for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old defensive midfielder, who had been linked with Arsenal, will be officially presented as a Wolfsburg player at a press conference on Friday having already signed a five-year contract.

Gustavo has made a total of 136 Bundesliga appearances both for Bayern and his former club Hoffenheim, scoring 11 goals.

Following the arrival of Thiago Alcantara and Mario Gotze at Bayern this summer, his chances of appearing regularly this season were reduced significantly and Wolfsburg made their move a few weeks ago.

Gustavo initially said he would prefer to stay with Bayern and fight for his place, but having featured only fleetingly under new coach Pep Guardiola in pre-season, he has had a change of heart.

The 11-time Brazil international, who is hoping to earn a spot in his country's World Cup squad for next summer, goes straight into the Wolfsburg squad for their Bundesliga clash with Schalke on Saturday.
