Dzeko extends Wolves contract

Wolfsburg's in-demand striker Edin Dzeko has penned a contract extension to keep him at the Bundesliga champions until the summer of 2013.

The 23-year-old Bosnia international has been heavily linked with a move to AC Milan, but the Wolves have insisted that they do not want to part with their star performer.

Head coach Armin Veh told the club's official website: "The early contract extension with Edin Dzeko is a further positive signal for the future.

"Edin is a very important element of our team."

Dzeko himself added: "I'm delighted that we have been able to agree terms before the start of the Bundesliga season.

"Now I can concentrate fully on Wolfsburg. I'm looking forward to playing in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League, we have big plans."
