Coach Veh sacked by Wolves

Wolfsburg have sacked head coach Armin Veh after just half a season in the hot-seat at the Volkswagen Arena.

Veh has been axed with the Wolves - who won the Bundesliga title under former coach Felix Magath last season - languishing down in 10th place in the table.

The last straw for the former Stuttgart coach was Sunday's 3-2 home defeat at the hands of struggling Koln.

"This was a very hard decision for us," read a club statement.

"However, we are of the opinion that we had to do something after our disappointing results lately.

"We couldn't make a fresh start under Armin Veh."

Former Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster is the early frontrunner to take the reins.
