Egypt international Amr Zaki has expressed his interest in signing a permanent deal with Wigan Athletic.
The striker spent last season on loan at the JJB Stadium and made a superb start to life with the club before falling out with then boss Steve Bruce and struggling for goals after Christmas.
It had been thought that Zaki had played his last match for the Latics but, now that Roberto Martinez has replaced Bruce, the striker has not ruled out a return to the club.
"I really wanted to stay with the Latics and and I still do," he told the Wigan Observer.
"I hear Martinez is a very talented coach who is still young and close to the players' age, which will help him get the best out of them.
"But this depends on the Latics board, who should make an official offer for Zamalek to sign me.
"Without a doubt, Wigan was a great experience for me, and I enjoyed every second of the time I spent with Latics in the Premier League."
