Egypt international Amr Zaki is ready to 'prove himself' in the Premier League after edging closer to sealing a move to Wigan Athletic.
The 25-year-old striker is on the verge to agreeing a season-long loan deal at the JJB Stadium from Egyptian club El Zalamek with a view to a permanent move should he impress.
Two weeks ago, the deal looked to have fallen through as El Zalamek were unwilling to let the striker leave.
Reports claimed that Zaki had decided to pull out of the proposed move after being threatened by club chief Mamdouh Abbas.
"I'm very happy to be here and hope to sign for Wigan," he said.
"It was difficult for me to come here as my club still wanted me.
"I watch all the Premier League and Championship games and think a loan would be good so I can prove myself.
"There is a big difference between English and Egyptian football. The competition and the players are tougher here."
