Egypt international Amr Zaki is delighted with the way the first six months of his loan spell with Wigan Athletic have gone.
The 25-year-old made a blistering start to life in England, finding the net eight times in his first 11 Premier League games and, although he has not scored in 2009, he remains happy with his contribution.
He told the Wigan Observer: "I haven't scored in the Premier League recently, but that doesn't necessarily mean I've failed.
"My supporters in Egypt need to be more patient. How come I failed when I trail high-profile stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Robinho only by one goal in the goalscorers' table?
"This is my first season in England and I reckon that I have done well. Some players might stay on the bench for six months or so until they make their Premier League debut.
"But I have taken part in 99 per cent of Wigan's games this term, and I have become their top scorer."
Zaki, who is on a season-long loan from Zamalek, has scored 11 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions for the Latics.
