Wigan boss Martinez still wants 4m Mohamed Diame despite health scare

Cautious: Roberto Martinez will not rush into buying Mohamed Diame after the player's medical revealed a potential heart problem Wigan still plan to sign RayoVallecano midfielder MohamedDiame even though the player'smedical revealed he has a heartdefect. Boss Roberto Martinez has to replace midfielder Lee Cattermole who left for Sunderland on Wednesday. And Rayo sporting director Felipe Minambres is confident Diame's transfer will go ahead as planned despite the switch being put on hold. Wigan want Diame to undergo further medical tests before pushingthrough with the transfer of the 22-year-old Frenchman from SpanishSegunda Division outfit Rayo.  Martinez remains optimistic aboutcompleting a £4million deal for Diameand team-mate Antonio Amaya. However, the Spaniardsaid: 'We can't take any chances.' Speaking in the wake of the tragic death of Espanyol captain DanielJarque at the age of 26 due to a heart attack, Martinez said: 'It's something that has come up and we willtake an intense and thorough look at it.   'We will be very careful, the health of the player is the priority.This seems to be something congenital, but footballers hearts are alsodifferent because of the physical work they do.' Minambres believes the deal will go through though, saying: 'Wiganwant him to have other tests, but there is no problem.
