    Valencia tug-of war intensifies

    07 Jun 2009 - 12:39:14

Reports suggest Wigan Athletic have received bids in excess of £16million from Manchester United and Real Madrid for Ecuador international Antonio Valencia .

Sky Sports News has revealed that the two clubs have both tabled massive bids for the highly-rated 23-year-old.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is believed to be willing to let Nani leave Old Trafford and sees Valencia as a perfect replacement.

Real have been linked with a host of players since newly-elected president Florentino Perez returned to the Bernabeu last week including Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Valencia moved to the JJ B Stadium in 2006 on loan from Recreativo de Huelva and the deal was made permanent in January 2008.

He has scored seven goals in 89 first-team appearances for the Latics.
