Valencia drops Bernabeu hint
29 Jan 2009 - 11:56:49
Press reports in Spain have quoted Wigan Athletic winger Luis Antonio Valencia as saying that he would relish the chance to join Real Madrid.
The 23-year-old Ecuador international is a reported target for the Spanish champions, who are prepared to allow Argentina striker Javier Saviola to move in the opposite direction.
Valencia was quoted as telling AS: "The dream of every footballer is to play at the highest level, to play in the Champions League, the highest level in European football.
"When I'm sat at home and I see the Champions League on television, I say to myself 'why am I not there?'"
Meanwhile, Latics boss Steve Bruce has urged new signing Hugo Rodallega to build on his club debut as a substitute in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool.
He told the club's official website: "When you manage a club like Wigan you have to know that sooner or later the big teams are going to want to come and nick your players, especially when you've got good ones.
"But the one thing I've said to Hugo is to come and use this as a platform.
"I want him to come here and be a big hit in the Premier League like some of the other players are at the moment."
