Taylor return boosts Wigan

Full-back Ryan Taylor has provided Wigan Athletic with a fitness boost after making a quicker than expected return from a shin injury.

The 22-year-old had been expected to be sidelined until October after suffering a problem with his shin bone during the final match of last season.

But the former England Under-21 international has now been given the all clear to resume 'full-contact' training with his Latics team-mates.

"It's been a very frustrating time, especially after having a long time out previously," Taylor told the club's official website.

"But I can't praise the medical staff enough for the way they have carried me through.

"It's hard when new players come in and you just want to join in but this is the sort of club where you feel a part of things even when you're not playing, and now I just want to get my training kit on and join in.

"As to when I'll be fit enough to challenge for my shirt, time will only tell.

"Everyone should know me by now, that I would put myself forward straight away, but I know that the physios will inform the manager when they think I'm ready, and then it's up to him."
