Swans start striker hunt

Swansea are on the hunt for a new striker after agreeing to sell Jason Scotland to Wigan. The 30-year-old, who hit 53 goals in two seasons for the Swans after joining from St Johnstone in 2007, is linking up with ex-City boss Roberto Martinez at the Premier League club. Swans chairman Huw Jenkins admitted he was sorry to lose his star man but pledged to back manager Paulo Sousa in his bid to find a replacement. "Obviously we are disappointed to lose Jason," said Jenkins. "But I think it was inevitable considering his age and his burning desire to play in the Premier League while he has the chance. "He will obviously be teaming up with Roberto again, but even if we hadn't had a change of manager I believe Jason would have moved up a league anyway. "The fans can be reassured that the manager and his staff are looking to strengthen as soon as possible. I can also assure our fans that all the funds received from the sale of Jason will be reinvested into the club by Paulo. We will endeavour to do that before the season starts."
