Swans reject new Bodde bid
19 Aug 2009 - 10:24:57
Swansea City have rejected a fresh approach from Wigan Athletic and former Swans manager Roberto Martinez for talismanic midfielder Ferrie Bodde.
Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins, who claims Bodde is in talks to extend his stay at the Liberty Stadium, refused the bid, believed to be in the region of £4.5million.
Speaking to Swansea Evening Post, Jenkins said: "Not only have we rejected the bid, but it's an offer we wouldn't even think twice about considering.
"Ferrie and his agent are well aware of Wigan's interest. In fact, we have been speaking about a new deal for a number of weeks.
"The talks have been extremely positive and once Ferrie is fit and playing again then we'll be trying to tie him down to Swansea for the next few years."
Roberto Martinez has taken ex-Swansea players Jason Scotland and Jordi Gomez with him to the DW Stadium over the summer.
