Scotland admits goal relief

Wigan Athletic striker Jason Scotland has revealed his relief at finally ending his Premier League goalscoring duck.

The Trinidad and Tobago international finally got on the scoresheet at the 29th time of asking during Sunday's 2-1 defeat at Fulham.

The £2million signing from Swansea City last summer had only scored one previous goal for the Latics in the FA Cup.

"It was beginning to become a psychological thing but you just have to forget about it really," Scotland told the Wigan Evening Post.

"You just have to take every game at a time, take every chance as it comes and just try to enjoy your football.

"It it comes, it comes. If it doesn't, it doesn't. You still have to keep plugging away.

"I've got a decent record against Fulham, maybe that's why the gaffer decided to start with me.

"I've scored there in the past and it was great to finally get off the mark."
