Real cooling Valencia interest

The agent of in-demand Wigan Athletic winger Luis Antonio Valencia has confirmed that Real Madrid have ended their interest in his client.

The 23-year-old Ecuador international is all but certain to leave the Latics this summer, but his chances of moving to the Santiago Bernabeu seem to have disappeared.

Valencia's agent, Diego Herrera, told The Independent: "The only official offer from Real Madrid for Antonio was last January.

"The offer came from the previous president, but Florentino Perez is over there now, so I don't know if they are going to go for him again.

"It is the right time for him to leave, now that the manager (Steve Bruce) has left. He feels it is time to move on."

Valencia has scored seven times in 89 appearances for the Latics in his three seasons with the Premier League club.
