Ramis out for the season
It was the news that we were dreading but defender Ivan Ramis is out for the season after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
The 28 year old defender has grown to be an integral part of the Wigan Athletic defence and will be sorely missed in the run in.
Latics boss Roberto Martinez commented that Ramis' injury was a bitter blow. He said: "Nothing can disguise the fact this is a massive blow because Ivan is a key member of the group.
"But we're relieved it is not as severe as we feared it could have been."
The injury could have ruled the defender out for a period of twelve months and severely weakened the joint, instead Ramis faces a spell of upto six months on the sidelines.
"Ivan is a very strong and positive character and he is determined to return to fitness as soon as he can," added Martinez.
"He will receive the best possible medical rehabilitation as the club ensures to have him return as an even stronger footballer."
