On-loan Sinclair hopes Wigan deal will boost his England and Chelsea futures

On-loan winger Scott Sinclair hopes his season-long spell with Wigan will help to boost his international and club prospects. The 20-year-old yesterday joined from Chelsea, his sixth loan spell - five of which have been at Coca-Cola Championship clubs - since making his first-team debut in 2007. 'With it being a loan deal I obviously want people back at Chelsea to see me do well, but I'm really happy that I get to do that at a great club like Wigan,' he said. 'Hopefully if I do play every week I can prove I'm good enough for England.' Sinclair has taken former winger Antonio Valencia's number 16 shirt after theEcuador international moved to Manchester United earlier in the summer, but theyoungster played down comparisons. 'I can't compare myself with Valencia yet because he's played in the Premier League for a while and I'm just young and still learning the game,' he added. 'When I was younger I was predominantly a striker, but as I've progressed I've adapted my play to be able to move out onto the wing as well, mainly out on the left, which is now probably where I prefer to play. 'It's up to the manager where I fill in and wherever he wants me to play I'm happy to do so.' Manager Roberto Martinez is pleased to have made another creative addition to his squad as he continues plans to get Wigan playing attractive, attacking football. 'Scott is a fantastic talent who can operate either up front or out wide and I'm delighted to have him join us,' said the Latics boss. 'He'll certainly bring a lot of competitiveness to the team, and hopefully we can help him to continue progressing as a player.'
