More misery for Martinez
Roberto Martinez is still waiting for his first success as Wigan boss after seeing his side lose 2-0 to FC Timiosara on Wednesday. The Romanian UEFA Champions League qualifiers put the game beyond the Latics inside the opening 18 minutes, with both goals coming during that period. Arman Karamyan put the Romanians ahead in the 11th minute when he found space on the edge of the area to fire low past goalkeeper Chris Kirkland's left hand, and Gigel Bucur added a second from close range after being left unmarked. Martinez made nine substitutions at the interval as he looked to inject some life into his side, but insisted afterwards that he was not downhearted at the result. "What interests me is how the players performed on the day and this was another fantastic training exercise against a team who were fitter than us and gave us a real challenge," he told the club's official website. "I think we took another big step forward and I was pleased with a lot of aspects of our game. "Although I was disappointed with the way we conceded the goals they came from basic defensive errors and we can work on preventing those sort of mistakes happening again." Wigan round off their Austrian tour with a clash against Bulgarian outfit PFC Minyor on Friday.
