McCulloch boost for Latics
17 Apr 2007 - 07:30:35
Wigan Athletic have been boosted by the news that Lee McCulloch did not break his leg during Sunday's match with Tottenham.
The Scotland international was taken to hospital after 40 minutes of the weekend 3-3 stalemate with Spurs amid fears he had sustained a serious leg injury.
But McCulloch, who has bagged five goals for the Latics this season, could return in time to play a significant part of the club's four remaining Premiership fixtures after scans revealed no fracture.
"It's great news, but because of the severity of the bruising, it's impossible to make a clear diagnosis," physio Alan Tomlinson told the club's official website.
"We cannot afford to take risks and will be giving Lee the best treatment."
The 15th placed Latics are just three points above the drop zone and face Liverpool, West Ham, Middlesbrough and Sheffield United in their final four games of the campaign.
