Martinez fears the worst over Ramis
Roberto Martinez fears a long term injury for centre back Ivan Ramis after the former MAllorca defender suffered a knee injury in the game with Fulham.
The influential defender was stretchered off in the second half of the game after suffering a twist to the knee joint in an injury which could well be a cruciate ligament problem.
Latics boss Roberto Martinez was not optimistic about the injury but would not be drawn on a conclusion before the result of scans.
Speaking after hte Latics came from a goal down to draw with Fulham, Martinez said: "The positives have been shaded by the bad news of Ivan Ramis’ injury which is a real blow after his magnificent display.
“Until we get the results of the scan we can’t be too sure but it looks long term and an injury to the ligaments in his right knee.
“It’s difficult news to take because he doesn’t deserve it after the performance he gave and the season he’s had.”
The injury will be a big blow to the Latics as Ramis has played a big part at the heart of the defence this season and fingers crossed the news will be better than feared.
