Martinez eyeing new recruits
Wigan boss Roberto Martinez admits there is still work to be done to his squad despite their convincing opening-day victory over Aston Villa. The Latics put on a display which typified the footballing philosophy of new boss Martinez, whose free-flowing style employed at Swansea has clearly transferred seamlessly to his new charges. But despite the convincing nature of his side's win, Martinez admitted there are still holes to be filled in the squad following the departures of Antonio Valencia and Lee Cattermole. "We've still got a lot of hard work ahead of us," he continued. "First of all we need to finalise the squad. I don't feel that the squad is finished - we have until August 31, and first and foremost I want to do that. "Once we do that, we have to carry on and try and get as good as we can, that will be the aim. And then after that, probably in February or March, you can set your aims. "It would be foolish on my part to guess what we will do this season, but I would be delighted if we can stay in the Premiership."
