Manager Roberto Martinez is predicting a busy transfer window for Wigan Athletic as he looks to bolster a squad which he believes is lacking depth.
Martinez has already made his first move of the window after agreeing a deal to sign Serbia goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic on loan from Sporting Lisbon.
But the Latics boss believes the shot-stopper will be the first of many new arrivals at the DW Stadium before the window closes at the end of January.
"Well it's no secret that we need to strengthen the side," Martinez told the club's official website.
"We've been quite thin in numbers and lost players we didn't expect to and January is the chance to rectify that.
"We want characters that are going to take Wigan Athletic to the next level and who have good experience.
"We want a good mixture of players who have the know-how to win games and players with the enthusiasm to express themselves on the pitch and do well.
"But it's important to remember that we have some big games during the transfer window and we have to focus, concentrate and support the players as best we can."
