Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has dismissed reports linking defender Maynor Figueroa with an imminent move away from the club.
The 26-year-old Honduras international left-back is a rumoured target for Sunderland, now managed by former Latics boss Steve Bruce.
However, Martinez told Sky Sports News: "Maynor is a vital player for our plans, a vital player for the future, to allow our football club to develop.
"In that respect nothing is going to happen with that sort of talk.
"I don't think we are in a position as a football club now where we need to sell anyone.
"In that respect it is vital we keep players on long-term contracts that are important for the future of the football club - Maynor is one of them.
"It is important we focus on the games and allow the transfer deadline to close and focus on our daily work."
