James McCarthy will be sad to leave Hamilton Academical after agreeing a four-year contract with Wigan Athletic.
The 18-year-old midfielder, who made his debut for Accies almost three years ago, has been described by Latics boss Roberto Martinez as the best young player in Scotland.
He moves to the Premier League team for a seven-figure sum after being named as Scotland's young player of the year last term.
McCarthy told Hamilton's official website: "I had an absolutely brilliant time at Accies. The club have been tremendous with me.
"I made so many good friends and I wish everyone at Accies all the very best."
McCarthy opted to join Wigan despite also being wanted by Wolves and is Martinez's fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Jordi Gomez, Hendry Thomas and Jason Scotland.
McCarthy scored 15 goals in 111 appearances during his time with Hamilton.
