Latics duo sign new deals
Wigan Athletic defenders Titus Bramble and Emmerson Boyce have signed new contracts to stay at the club until 2012. Bramble had been linked with a reunion with former Latics boss Steve Bruce at Sunderland, while Aston Villa had also been credited with an interest. Premier League new boys Wolves, meanwhile, were reported to be weighing up an offer for Boyce, who had 12 months remaining on his deal. However, both players have pledged their futures to the Latics, with Roberto Martinez happy to be keeping hold of the duo. "When you look at the performances of the two players over recent seasons it's a great reward from the club to offer them contract extensions," Martinez told the club's official website. "They're real ambassadors for the club and great professionals who give you a good sense of continuity and competitiveness. "They offer stability, set themselves high standards and are excellent examples to follow. Both are at a great moment in their careers and I think their best years are still to come, so we're very lucky to have players of that calibre." Bramble, who was the Latics' Player of the Year last season, insists he was never looking to leave the club after being linked with a move away. "I've been really happy here, and I feel really settled," said the former Newcastle defender. "I never wanted to go anywhere else and I'm really looking forward to the new season. These are exciting times for the club and I'm glad to be a part of it."
