Latics could move for Kitson

Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce is being linked with a move for Reading striker Dave Kitson after allowing Julius Aghahowa to move to Turkish club Kayserispor.

The Latics boss has also decided not to bring Marcus Bent back to the JJB Stadium so is light on attacking options, although he is close to capturing Egyptian forward Amr Zaki.

Bruce told the Wigan Observer: "We're looking at several options and hope to start a few things soon.

"We're close to a couple of things happening and we're working very hard to get it done.

"It could be quite a busy period for us and we've made significant progress recently."

Meanwhile, Austrian defender Paul Scharner is expected to pen a new contract with the Latics later this week.
