Wigan Athletic have agreed a deal to sign Marco Ruben, according to the Argentinian striker's current club Villarreal.
The Latics were given permission to speak to the 23-year-old marksman on Monday after agreeing a fee in the region of £6million with the La Liga club.
Villarreal now claim that Ruben has agreed a four-and-a-half year contract at the DW Stadium.
"I found out eight or nine days ago and since then the club have continued with negotiations with my agent and he told me it was done and all that was needed was my signature," he told the Spanish club's official website.
"I am happy to take this opportunity because it is a good coach (Roberto Martinez) and a great team."
Ruben has been a prolific marksman for the Villarreal's reserve side but had not broken into the first-team picture at El Madrigal following his arrival from River Plate in 2008.
