King charged with assault

Wigan Athletic striker Marlon King has been charged following an attack on a woman in a nightclub.

The 28-year-old, who is currently on loan at Middlesbrough, will appear before magistrates later this month.

King is alleged to have sexually assaulted and punched a 20-year old woman in a London nightclub in December 2008.

He was arrested on December 10 after an incident at the Soho Revue Bar in Brewer Street, central London, three days earlier when a woman received hospital treatment for a broken nose and split lip.

King, who was on loan at Hull City at the time of the alleged incident, was released on bail to appear at City of Westminster magistrates court on February 25 on charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and sexual assault by touching.
