Jewell in no mood to sell

Wigan Athletic boss Paul Jewell says that wantaway defender Pascal Chimbonda may yet be in the Latics' line-up for their Premiership opener against Newcastle United. The 27-year-old right-back has been the subject of several bids from Spurs this summer, having handed in a transfer request at the end of last season. However, Jewell is holding out for around £6million for the Frenchman and admits that time is running out for a deal to be struck. He told The Independent: "We have had a lot of dialogue with Tottenham this summer and they know what the deal is. "Perhaps as we get closer to deadline day and if Pascal is still playing well the price will go up, but they know what the price is at the moment. "We don't want to sell - he's done very well in training and in the pre-season games - and until Tottenham come up with the money Pascal is not going. "I haven't seen him smile yet, but it's about what he does on the pitch and if he continues to do his best, he will be in my team."
