Wigan Athletic boss Chris Hutchings had few complaints after seeing his side torn apart 4-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The Latics held out until half-time, but were then pulled apart as the reigning Premier League champions ran riot.
Hutchings said: "We had a game plan which worked well in the first half.
"But as soon as they scored the first goal they upped the tempo and they could have scored a couple more.
"It's always difficult, but while it's 1-0 you have always got a chance. I'm disappointed that we lost our shape, but look at the players Manchester United have.
"When you try to stop one, they always have someone else. They opened us up too easily in the end.
"But they scored seven against Roma last season, which shows you what they are capable of.
"They have a great attacking threat from all areas and are a formidable outfit. That is why they are in the Champions League."
