Hull v Wigan preview

Hull will be hoping to notch their second league win against Wigan at the KC Stadium. The Tigers have endured a torrid start so far this term, picking up just one win in seven games. Conceding a worrying 19 goals in the process, they sit second-bottom of the League table, with only lowly Portsmouth below them. Defence has become a real issue for Phil Brown's side having let in 10 goals in their last two games - they have the worst record in the Premier League. Soon after being thumped in the Carling Cup 4-0 at home by Everton, they suffered a 6-1 beating at Anfield - their fourth consecutive defeat. Wigan, however, have enjoyed a more promising start, having won three games so far this term capped off with a shock win over Chelsea last time. Titus Bramble, Hugo Rodallega and Paul Scharner all found the scoresheet last week as the Latics fought out a surprise 3-1 victory over the Blues. That win launched them to tenth position in the League table heading into Saturday's clash. Roberto Martinez's side go in search of back-to-back wins for the first time this season having failed to do so thus far. The Latics haven't won consecutive games since March when they followed up an away win at Sunderland with a narrow victory over the Tigers at the JJB Stadium. They did, however, win both meetings with Hull City last season including a 5-0 success at the KC Stadium. Team newsDefender Steven Mouyokolo has missed Hull's last four games with a hamstring injury but could be back in action this weekend. Tigers captain Ian Ashbee will miss out through injury, so Nick Barmby is expected to act as stand-in skipper. Martinez has the luxury of a fully fit squad for the trip to the KC Stadium and is expected to stick with the same starting Xl that beat Chelsea last time. Scott Sinclair, who was ineligible last weekend for the Latics, is available for selection once again. James McCarthy, who came off with a minor groin problem in Monday's reserve-team match against Bolton, is also in contention. Possible starting XlsHull:Myhill, McShane, Sonko, Cooper, Dawson, Geovanni, Boateng, Kilbane, Hunt, Vennegoor of Hesselink, Ghilas Wigan: Kirkland, Melchiot, Boyce, Bramble, Figueroa, Thomas, Rodallega, Diame, N'Zogbia, Scharner, Scotland
